My friend got her A-level results with the A in Art and Design course. Now she is getting started in her carrier as a motion graphic designer. In college she was working mostly in Photoshop and Illustrator but she feels she missed something. I hope this article will help to put you back on track of the things you have to learn.
Adobe Aftereffects is the main software that any motion graphic designer will be using. This programme can be used for tracking, keying, rotoscoping, animation and compositing. It allows to compose media in both 2D and 3D space. Moreover, it also possible to download built-in tools and third party plug-ins (many of them are free).
Adobe Illustrator is another software that can be used for creating vector graphic. The main difference from Photoshop is that it’s not pixel based.
Cinema 4D is integrated into After Effects. It can be used for animation, rendering and 3D modelling. It offers dynamics which is useful for simulating soft body, hair, character animation, cloth, smoke and fire effects, as well as tools for cel shading and technical drawings.
If you know those programmes, you can create amazing work. All you need is practise as much as you can.
